The Tubah Council’s 2026 Long-Term Holiday Employment Program has officially drawn to a triumphant close, marking the successful culmination of weeks dedicated to youth empowerment, civic learning, and practical community transformation.

What began with the recruitment of enthusiastic students and an academic partnership at the University of Bamenda (UBa) has delivered on its promise of generating real, measurable “endimpact” across the municipality.

Turning Learning into Tangible Service
Throughout the program, participants moved beyond lecture halls to actively address local challenges. Putting their training in environmental management and civic duty into direct practice, the cohort tackled critical municipal tasks, including clearing major river blockages caused by illegal waste dumping to restore natural water flow and improve local sanitation.

The initiative successfully bridged classroom pedagogy with high-impact community service, giving participants first-hand experience in municipal stewardship.

Celebrating Achievement: Certifications and Youth Support
At the official closing ceremony, 150 participating students were recognized for their dedication and service:

UBa Training Certifications: Students proudly received their official University of Bamenda certificates, validating their intensive training in civic rights, responsibilities, and values.

Special Support for Female Students: Reaffirming the council’s commitment to youth welfare and dignity, special gift packages including sanitary pads were distributed to all 80+ female participants.

Financial Autonomy: In addition to valuable job experience, students earned essential income to help offset upcoming academic fees and personal expenses.

A Double Celebration: Mayor Tanjong Martin Honored with Prestigious Award
The closing event was further elevated by a major milestone for local municipal leadership. Mayor Tanjong Martin was formally presented with the International Golden Star Award (2025/2026 Edition) by The Watchdog Tribune Media Corporation, honoring him as Cameroon’s Best Mayor of the Decade (SDF-CPDM).

The award recognizes Mayor Tanjong Martin’s sustained leadership, exemplary administration, and steadfast dedication to people-centered development, exemplified by annual youth initiatives that equip the next generation with the tools to build a stronger, cleaner, and more united Tubah.
